I mentioned to some friends that there is an interesting phenominon on ravelry: Torchwood fan fiction in which the characters knit. (One or two of the stories can't be seen unless you have a ravelry account, but here are a couple of examples: http://community.livejournal.com/dwfiction/913024.html http://meilin-miranda.livejournal.com/10327.html )

Then I was asked: "So which heroes character would be most likely to learn to knit?"

[Poll #1101079]
(LJ seems to have a limit on the number of answers you can have in a poll; sorry if I left out any of your favorite characters.)

Battlestar Galactica: Some really bad episodes lately, which just accentuate the sad fact that you seem to have lost your way. It says something about my diminished expectations for the series that I'm not really disappointed that all the mystico-religious stuff appears to be actually true. Still, it would be nice if you could decide what, exactly, you're about, and even nicer if whatever that is doesn't suck. It is cute how the show opening still pretends that the Cylons have A PLAN.

All may be forgiven if the human survivors do find Earth again, and it is revealed that it's 1980.

Lost: The Others were a lot more interesting when we didn't know much about them, weren't they? More focus on the folks on the beach, please, and also please make Kate kickass again. (Hey, didn't there used to be some caves or something?) I almost hesitate to mention this, but consistent characterization would be nice, and if you could make people stop acting like idiots for plot purposes ... OK, OK, I know, start with little steps.

Heroes: Congratulations on making it through an episode without killing a female character! (Not counting the one that died at the end of the previous episode who we saw dead at the beginning of this one. Hmm, I appear to have reduced expectations here too.) Also, it was nice to see Mohinder do something almost useful.

I look forward to the next episode, but I've still got my eye on you -- please don't do anything too mean to Claire's mom.

After the first two episodes of Torchwood, my feeling was: I didn't love it so much that I was sure that I would keep watching it forever, but I also didn't dislike it enough to stop watching. It seemed like it had enough potential to be worth keeping an eye on until it was clear whether or not it would be worth keeping up with.

Episode 3 came out this week and I have to say I liked it the best of the three so far; if the series continues to be this good I will be pretty happy.

While I was falling asleep last night, though, I thought about the episode some more and managed to confuse myself about what the Plot Device did, exactly. Spoilers and overanalysis behind the cut )

Chuck Norris IS Chuck Norris and Chuck Norris IN 'Face of Evil'Pretty good, but I was distracted by the fact that half the male characters looked like Chuck Norris. (Many of the others looked like Tom Baker, but that was more forgivable.)

Here are the promised pictures of the knitted Penfold I gave to [livejournal.com profile] katylady74 this evening. Woo!

Upon being handed Knitted Penfold, at least three or four people this evening immediately checked to see if he was wearing underwear. (In case you yourself are wondering: He was not.)

I've finished [livejournal.com profile] saucypunk's birthday present! I didn't think it would be done in time.

Hey, y'all! Come to my house on Monday at 7:30 and watch the second season of Danger Mouse, including the episode that blew my mind when I was a preteen babysitting [livejournal.com profile] djswifty!

I think most of the people who would be interested in this know where I live, but if you want to come but don't know how to get here comment and I'll write some directions up.

Will people have already had dinner, or should I plan to get some pizzas?
