There were some other things I planned to talk about, but I think the post is complete as it is and plenty long enough.

The most serious omission comes where I list people I know who were uncomfortably close to being killed in the attacks. I missed mentioning that my cousin Cristine was (and still is) in the military and was actually in the Pentagon when the plane hit it. Although I don't know anyone who died in the attack, she certainly does. She's since served a couple of stints in Iraq. (I sent her some cookies there a few Christmases ago.)
