Birthday activities (some SAITAMA content for
milkymiyuki)
Today was my birthday, and I managed to do some nice birthday stuff.
kerri9494 suggested getting together for lunch, which we did at Café Paragon. I had a nice spinach salad which included slices of hard-boiled egg and bacon, while Kerri had a hamburger with blue cheese and bacon. Here we are:

Then we did a brief walk up and down Thayer street, where Kerri took pictures of me for
milkymiyuki and
manfire's SAITAMA project:
Here I am in front of the Brown University Bookstore on Thayer Street. A second bookstore can be seen a block away behind me.

Here I am standing in front of the bus tunnel on Thayer Street. Note that 'buses' is misspelled on the sign (unless the sign is referring to kisses).

Here I am standing in the quad in front of the Brown University Sciences Library and the Thomas J. Watson Center for Information Technology. You may notice that there are two weird sculptures in the photo. (The second is behind a tree and up the steps a bit to my left in the photo.)

Here I am in front of the Brown University Sciences Library, which, astonishingly enough, is not the ugliest building on campus. (The ugliest is probably either Barus & Holley, where the engineering department is, or the Grad Center.)

I'm in front of the SciLi again, but you also get a nice view of the CIT here (and can see why some people thought it should be nicknamed Q*Bert).

Then I went back to work. Thanks to Kerri for a pleasant lunch and for agreeing to go around and take pictures of me!
After work, I met up with a friend who has the same birthday as I do and her girlfriend and mother and we went to see the PawSox, a minor-league baseball team based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The PawSox ended up losing to the Indianapolis Indians 3-0, but it was still fun. Here, too, SAITAMA pictures were taken.
Here I am standing in front of a big statue of Paws, the PawSox mascot, which in turn is in front of McCoy stadium, home of the PawSox.

Here are some pictures from early in the game, when the PawSox were only down 1-0. The second photo is an action shot, and if you look closely you can see the white streak that is my camera's rendering of the pitch, about 2/3 of the way from the pitcher to the batter.

And here I am in my SAITAMA shirt not watching the PawSox lose:

The PawSox continue to lose:

After the game, my friend's mother went home and the rest of us went to Pastiche for dessert and discussion. (No pictures of this, though.)
So a very pleasant evening, and all around a quite nice day. Hurrah!
