Finished knitting hat

I bought some yarn from [livejournal.com profile] neau not too long ago and, after consulting my sister and her husband, decided that this hat pattern from knitty.com would be just the ticket. I didn't think I had enough [livejournal.com profile] neau yarn to knit the whole thing, so I made the folded-up band using a different yarn.

Tonight I finished it!

The yarn was (as you might guess) a little strange to work with, but it was fun and I am quite happy with how the hat came out. (I think it will be pretty warm, too, which is nice since it's starting to get cold out.)

I noticed that the yarn has a noticeable sort of cinnamon smell which is quite pleasant (although I imagine it will fade as time passes). When I asked her about this, [livejournal.com profile] neau told me she used to keep a sachet in her yarn bin ... plus she burns incense while spinning her wool which might add to the mix. It's something else.

If you want some of her yarn to play with yourself, she sells stuff in a few places: her livejournal, her ebay store, and I believe pluckyfluff is going to start carrying some of her yarn soon.

Yeah, there is definitely a cinnamony smell on top of the nag champa smell. It's really the best thing I've ever smelled in my entire life. I made a little skinny scarf and I wear it and smell it all the time and people look at me weird.

*laughing* That is the most fantastic hat ever! I saved the pictures to my computer to be uploaded into a future customer gallery.

The cinnamon smell is from a sachet that I threw into my yarn bin a LONG time ago. It must have been pretty powerful, because I took it out several months ago and everything still smells spicy. :)

I LOVE IT. I NEED TO REPLICATE THIS SMELL SO I CAN DIE HAPPY. The mixture of it with the nag champa smell is pure joy.

Is the bulge of the hat above the band intentional, or an accidental effect of using different weights of yarn? Either way, it's pretty marvelous. I got out the Pere Ubu records last night but didn't listen to "My Hat" yet. Gotta put that one on tonight!

I gather the "feathered" effect is woven into the yarn? That's awesome! And I love the idea of the scent...I haven't knit in years, but I can remember a time when I could at least knit a scarf...Hmmm, it's awfully tempting.

That is just fabulous. The variegated light orange is one of my favorite colors, too.

Oh very very cool and what a sweet looking man, makes me want to hug him. He looks kind and loving.

It must make you feel so good to see your yarn knit into people's beautiful creations, fun, fun, fun.

I was finally able to clear out a few people from my friend's list to make room for you, heh, damn that 750 people limit ; ) I hate to eliminate people because I never want to hurt anyone's feelings or make someone sad.

Much fuzzy lovingness,
