Advice. It's a problem. Under the right circumstances, you can ask someone for advice and their response can be very useful, even if you don't end up doing exactly what they suggest. Other times, the advice has very little to do with the reality of your situations.
Sometimes, about the best you can hope for is to get some sort of validation when you ask for advice -- either someone who tells you what you already know, or someone who tells you something that's obviously wrong so you can safely ignore it and do what you wanted to do all along.
At one point I created a 'Bad Advice' community on Orkut which was intended to cater to people looking for that final sort of advice, and also for people who were interested in trying to come up with the worst possible advice to fit a given situation. (To me, at least, the ideal bad advice has a sort of surface plausibility.)
I've been thinking for a while of creating a similar community on livejournal, but I've been afraid that it would be a giant drama magnet. What do you all think?
