sexism note

In the last month or so I've been noticing a lot of stories, posts, personal anecdotes, etc. about sexism in various forms. (In some cases this has involved harassment of women, or sexual assault of friends of mine; in others it has been men in positions of power, who I am sure don't think of themselves as being sexist, treating professional women very disrespectfully, in ways that I don't think they would treat similarly qualified men; in some cases it has been decisions of the Supreme Court; and other stuff too.)

I'm sure that none of this is any news to women, and I'm sure that being shocked by it, as I was in many cases, would strike many as being absurdly naive.

So after all of that bad news, I did get some satisfaction reading this bit of news, which indicates that acting in these ways can have consequences. I hope that you do too. (rimrunner posted about this originally.)
