baby sampler blanket complete

I finished up sewing the corners together today while watching 'Lost'. I haven't decided whether I'm going to do a final round of blocking or not; I think I might put it through the wash once just to see if that makes it lie a little flatter on its own, and then take it from there.

It's based on a pattern from Cables Untangled: An Exploration of Cable Knitting by Melissa Leapman, which was an HMas gift from plant_geek. (Basically I made a quarter of a sampler blanket from that book.)

Cables are cool -- they are basically pretty easy to do, but they look really impressive. I recommend giving them a shot!

My next project to complete is a pair of socks, so apparently I'm not afraid of repetitiveness.

i'm working on socks too! knee socks. apparently i also like repetition. are you working on the green and purple ones?
my mom (and theresa) do both socks at once on a circular needle. i haven't tried this yet but i would imagine it seems less repetitive.

Yes, the green and purple ones. My sister uses the circular needle technique and recommends it; maybe I'll try that out for the next set I make.

I also really like the ribbed/cabled border on the sampler blanket (which is why I took a closeup of that) and think it might be cool to use for socks, although that might require a little experimentation to get right. I guess it's something to think about for the future, anyway.

Hmm, the blanket is green and purple. Apparently there's something about that color combination.

I originally was going to make the whole blanket purple, but decided that it would be better if the border were something different. cgoldfish helped me pick out the green.
