Enough people have become my livejournal friends in the past couple of years that they might not remember the last time I posted with any frequency about Accuweather's odd explanatory graphics. As it happens I have some of the ones handy, so I thought I might run through them ...

From June 5 2005:

NUMEROUS

From June 7:

Persistent Chill

I think it was around here that someone realized that Accuweather is an excellent source for band names.

Then there was this on June 14:

HUMID / ITY SLICED

about which [livejournal.com profile] ceruleanst commented: 'You're kidding. I mean, okay, when the hailing thunderstorms hit here, I said, "I stand corrected. It is freaking numerous out there." But this? It doesn't even show you where the front is. Why is there a map at all?'

Then, on the the next day:

HEAT SHATTERED

while on the west cost giant atomic barrels menaced the Pacific Northwest:

BIG STORM BARRELS IN

On August 4 we get to play 'find the oxymoron':

BACKDOOR FRONT

In early December we are notified plaintively that WINTER HASN'T EVEN STARTED YET!, and we are introduced to the word 'JANUARYLIKE':

JANUARYLIKE COLD WED

and in February of 2006 there is an EXPLOSIVE L DEVELOPMENT:

I am so glad you posted these. They make me quite happy.
And guess what! I'm not an anxious mess today! It must be because I hung out with you.

The Explosive L Development seems to either have caused, or be caused by, half of Haidinger's Brushes.

I think "januarylike" might be my favorite.

Sure you like them-- wait until they come to your town!

The fires... burned for days, and the barrels, they kept coming! Later the ashes turned to mud, burying the living and dead alike!

"Backdoor Front" is an excellent band name or maybe a song title.
