As previously reported in a terse text post and a garbled phone post, mom won the election 61% to 39%, and I (finally) completed and gave her her birthday blanket. Here's a picture of City Council member Barbara Haller:

The border is pretty curly and I wish I had had time to wash it and maybe do a little blocking. Still, I'm happy with how it came out.

She originally was a community activist in Worcester's Main South neighborhood. When the last district 4 councillor died during the 2001 campaign mom decided to join the race. Despite joining late and getting few endorsements (actually, I'm not sure she got any), she won handily and the rest is history.
