Also the extreme cold

could have frozen your fuel line. I had that problem on Saturday down at the monastery where we rehearse. The combination of river valley winds and the iced-over swampy patch right next to the parking lot made for an exceptionally bitter chill, and it took me about 10 minutes of try-it-and-wait and slamming the hood shut to shake it up enough to let the gas through. A little bottle of isopropanol in the gas tank once in a while can work wonders. I was thinking at first that it was surprising that the ethanol that's required in the gas in the wintertime didn't do the trick, but then I realized that probably just means there's more water already emulsified in it before it even comes out of the pump.
