Weekend notes
Mar. 20th, 2006 10:35 amI took Friday off from work and drove down to New York to visit friends. First stop: Flushing, where my friend Patrick was having a birthday party. I hadn't seen him in years (and had never, for instance, met his wife), so it was good to see him again, and there were a few other people there who I knew back in the day but hadn't seen in a long time, so that was nice. After the party I went to New Jersey to stay with
cpr94, who had specially cleaned out his guest bedroom (which used to be my bedroom back when I worked in Manhattan).
I had some nice walks in Montclair, NJ on Saturday and Sunday; Saturday we walked around Bloomfield Avenue (going to an Indian place for lunch and visiting the nice big used book store off Bloomfield) and Sunday we took a little hike through a park.
Saturday evening we went to what was supposed to be a jazz social thrown by our friends Deb and Guy's Unitarian church. (Generally I find that if you hang out with large groups of Unitarians you will hear a large number of Unitarian jokes, which is not an unalloyed blessing.) Afterwards went to a Thai place with Deb and Guy and Deb's parents, then after that went to Deb and Guy's to hang out. There we listened to music and chatted. It was very nice.
I should go back and visit again sometime soon. I'm tired today, though!
I took some pictures using my camera phone, and they can be viewed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jwgh/ .
