I finished the baby pants I'm making for my friend Sarah Karush's baby. That was a quick little project! The pattern's from Joelle Hoverson's Last-Minute Knitted Gifts, which is a nifty little book although the title is a bit deceptive.

My next project is a hat (the 'almost-famous luggy bonnet' pattern by Lucy Mackenzie & Kirsteen Mitcalfe from Weekend Knitting) for the same baby. After lunch today I went to A Stitch Above with restartsmyheart and picked up a bunch of merino for the hat:

restartsmyheart suggested that I should plan to make about fifty of these hats given the amount of yarn I got. Well, we'll see how much yarn is left over after I make the first one.

What kind of yarn did you use for the baby pants? They look great!
BTW, did you see the baby pants in the latest Knitty?

The yarn is Rowan Denim, which has a strange feel to it but which I enjoyed working with and like a lot. I used less than three skeins.

I did see the Knitty pattern. It looks pretty similar, except that the pattern I used has a seed stitch cuff, doesn't have a pocket, and uses a drawstring instead of an elastic waist.

Incidentally, a friend of mine, Rebecca Lesiak aka cadmiumredgirl has a pattern in the latest Knitty which I think is pretty nifty!
