When we were watching Logan's Run tonight, a brief but spirited debate broke out over where the dome was located. [livejournal.com profile] donutgirl thought that it was probably in Bethesda, but I thought that they would probably build it in Rockville since the real estate prices would be lower there. What's your opinion?

I guess Kentlands in Gaithersburg is a little too far north, then.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/trivia might help. It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I thought crazy obsessed cat guy was in a government/university building that was fairly well known -- I rarely get to DC at all, though. (from following imbd links it's the capitol building.I should ahve known.) But the domed city is, in real life, in texas.

I always assumed

it was supposed to be REALLY nearby, and pretty small, like right on the Mall or the Ellipse, or maybe nestled inside the Tidal Basin.

The direction they're coming from when they are seeking Sanctuary implies Virginia, and it seems like it takes them quite a while to walk to D.C. from the dome, so I'm going to proclaim tht the dome will be an eventual outgrowth of the planned city of Reston. Probably it'll start turning into a dome once they extend the Orange Line Metro out there.

Once the War destroys everything so thoroughly that you need to build domes for survival, real estate prices are going to be down pretty much everywhere.

It has been awhile since I have seen the movie, but at the end Logan swims back into the complex from some sort of intake by the water. That was the ocean, right? I don't imagine him swimming more than a few miles underwater without breathing so at least that part must have been near the coast. (Or maybe a river?) I remember surf, but it has been at least 15 years since I last saw the movie). Perhaps that would narrow down the location?
