Wal-Mart movie information

Cecily called me a little while and suggested letting y'all know more about the Wal-Mart movie showing tonight.

It's at 6:30 pm at the IMAX theater in the Providence Place mall. The movie is free, and free popcorn and soda will also be provided. (Parking will still cost a buck.)

This might be the last screening in Rhode Island (see this list of showings in the United States), so if you want to check it out and you live in the same state as me this is your best shot.

I'm just curious, do you have any idea who is funding this screening + free popcorn, etc.? Is it the mall? Hoyts? Local labor organizers?

the dude who told me about it is from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, so my guess is that they probably are (although i don't know for sure), but more than likely it's them.

ooh, yeah! 90% chance i'll be there, although i may be running in at the last minute if my table delivery goes awry.

are you meeting up somewhere beforehand? just outside the theater?

I get off work at 6, so I'm going to be making a bit of a mad dash myself ... so I don't think there will be any meetup beforehand, but maybe afterwards I will try to round up some people for a little dinner or something.

but apparently the process of ordering the screening kit and scheduling the screening must be rather confusing, because the organizer didn't think she had ever actually published a date for the screening, and she hadn't even received the kit yet on the scheduled date. There must be a disconnect between ordering and scheduling, because the website admin told me the only contact info for the screening listings was the e-mail, even though they obviously have to have a name and address to send the kit to.

And now I'm booked every night till the end of the month, so I hope somebody around here has a showing we can make it to next month. I was hoping I'd get to see it before Thanksgiving dinner with my Walmart-loving father and little sister.
