A couple of weeks ago I ordered a gig bag for my accordion (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] annarama for advising me to do this), and today it arrived.

Here it is, all zipped, velcroed, and snapped together. It can be carried by the sturdy handle seen here ...

... or you can wear it like a backpack.

The accordion fits inside, which is nice.

This is a nice improvement on the accordion case that my accordion came with, which is big, bulky, and very musty-smelling (although probably better protection in some situations).

You probably couldn't get away with doing what I did with my melodeon, which was going to a drugstore and buying a soft sided cooler. My melodeon fits in it perfectly, it's much lighter than the hard shell case, and it has a shoulder strap. Also it makes it look like lunch, which may make it less vulnerable to theft, or more, who knows.

Some guy on eBay says,
DO THESE CASES HAVE MUSTY ODOR? K-MART CARPRT CLEANER, VACUUMING AND OPEN TO SUNSHINE ARE ARE SOLUTION TO MUSTY CASES. THEN ,LATER, PUT IN LAUNDRY ANTI-STATIC SHEETS TO KEEP THEM SWEET!
Couldn't have said it better myself. Well, I could, but I won't.

I think it's something they sell in the lighting section at Home Depot.
