Music party Saturday August 26 in Holland, MA

Where: 74 Sturbridge Road, Holland, MA 01521

When: Starting around 2:00 pm, going until late. There will be a barbecue (including vegetarian and vegan food for those who desire it).

What to bring: Musical instruments if you have them, favorite tunes, your voices, your ears -- and a swimsuit and an appetite. I'll try to bring at least a couple of copies of 'Rise Up Singing' ...

Although it's a 'music party' you don't need to play an instrument, or enjoy singing, to come; enjoying the lake and the company's a big part of it too. The more people come, the more fun these things are. I hope you can make it!

Besides music there will be plenty to eat and drink, swimming, kayaking, etc.

Free or otherwise? Because that's just enough closer to here that I'm tempted to come out. There are many other considerations, but crash space is one.

There are certainly hotel/motels in Sturbridge and Southbridge. Tomorrow I'll try to see if I can round up any information for you.

is the big thing with motels. Not that I tend to sleep more than 6 hours now that I keep breathing all night, though, I guess. It's just really annoying to spend a hundred bucks for nothing more than a bed and a shower, and then have to race through the shower to beat the checkout time in the morning. Especially if my wife wants to come along, too.

I've been hoping that cprisiinger would chime in with some advice, since I know he's actually stayed in a hotel around there (but unfortunately I don't remember which one). Since he hasn't yet:

There are a ton of hotels around, partly because of Old Sturbridge Village but mostly because of the Brimfield Flea Market, I imagine. The Publick House is probably the fanciest but others are probably a lot cheaper.

I stayed at the Scottish Inn. Kinda old motel, not fancy, but as I recall it was clean enough and not too expensive.
