An anonymous user just posted the following (slightly censored) message as a comment to two posts in snbprov:

My name is Lauren Peri and I am posting a comment on behalf of Sony Pictures. We have a new movie coming out Called [redacted] with [redacted]. Im sure you have all heard of it by now, anyway we would love to send all Stich and Bitch groups or just knitting groups free advancing screening passes for Monday Jan. 22nd. Please contact me at 617-xxx-xxxx. This screening will be held at the Providence Place Mall Theatre

The movie doesn't have anything to do with knitting, as far as I can tell. Have other people been seeing this sort of thing?

I saw that too.

I work at the mall, and far as I know, free screenings are usually on Thursdays or Saturdays and I'm almost always told about them at work as mall employees are given first dibs on the passes. Hell, I'm even told about free screenings in SEEKONK.

Also, that's not even a RI phone number, let alone a mall number. (All Providence Place numbers are 401-270-xxxx)

Also, she can't spell "Stitch" and thinks that an "advance screening" is "advancing."

I would think that Sony Pictures would hire someone without at least a ninth grade understanding of grammar, but I could be wrong.

I tried googling for the phone number but didn't find anything. There's a Lauren Peri in Nevada but I assume that's a different person.

Are there any numbers listed for Sony reps in the area? Or even emails? They could probably confirm/deny the validity of this, and if it is fake, they probably would appreciate knowing about it.

I got voice mail - "Hi you've reached Lauren Peri at Publicity and Promotions and I can't come to the phone right now...."

I didn't leave a message i'll try again and ask her not to spam us. I don't think its a scam, but rather a poor way to promote a movie that looks like it will suck.
