But maybe it's because the glasses are more prominent? Beards being rare, it's something you notice, so without it the glasses seem more noticeable? Also, it looks like the top of your glasses have a frame but not the bottom, but the frame is the same color as your beard--so with the beard the glasses seem less color-unbalanced?
