Mike Daisey was delivering his monologue, Invincible Summer, in Cambridge on April 19. He had just gone through the bit about fucking Paris Hilton when 87 people, who I gather were all members of the same Christian group, got up and walked out; one went on-stage and poured water over his notes.

Video of the event and its aftermath has been posted on YouTube, and I think it's worth watching.

I heard about this through John Hodgman's blog.

All things considered, that's a rather impressive recovery.

The whole thing is very baffling. I haven't found any information about who the people who walked out actually were, other than members of some unspecific 'Christian group'.

Oh, I guess a Christian school group travelling through town who randomly chose Mike's show to go to, then were unhappy with its content. (This information is from a comment in John Hodgman's blog.)

I was thinking about this also. Invincible Summer is playing through April 29th, so we could try getting tickets for Friday maybe ... I don't know. What do you think?

i already said this in person, but thought i'd post just for the record (i'm catching up on lj today)- my friend works at the ART and said it was a mistake that this group of "mostly christian" highschool kids ended up at this show- the organizer was afraid of losing his job if he let them sit through the show- that guy that poured the water was one random idiot in the group (a parent chaperone)- otherwise, my friend says the group was respectful and apoligetic and not intentionally protesting
