I think this is most directly a parody of Donald Trump's 'The Apprentice' show, which I've never seen, but elements of it are certainly recognizable from the one reality show I have watched ('Project Runway'). As for the cats, I will let them speak for themselves.

Date: 2007-06-01 05:53 am (UTC)Apprentice UK is an official licensed BBC version of the show with a more documentary atmosphere and one that tends to stick with the "Business Skillz" tasks, not the sponsor-of-the-week marketing tasks (which would go against BBC's greeking of shows to avoid product placement). The Trump of the show is Sir Alan Sugar, of Amstrad Computer (which I take was a sort of Tandy of the UK in its time) and some or other football time. He's not quite a billionaire in Pounds, but he probably is in US Dollars. He also comes off as much tougher and more serious than Trump, and it's a great show.
