I'm in Massachusetts helping my father clean out his house, and I came across a linoleum print I made probably in about fifth grade of a stegasaurus:

STEGASAURUS!

I've turned it into an X-Face, which I'll use when posting to USENET and also as my new user icon here. Until I get sick of it, anyway.

FIFTH grade?

Man, your schools are reTAWded! We did linoleum block prints in FOURTH grade!

Did you art teacher meticulously and obsessively warn you of the dangers of cutting your hand with a linoleum knife, and how a cut in the web between your thumb and index finger meant certain death from LOCKJAW? Because, when my sister jammed my thumb in the car door a few weeks later, I was absolutely insane with terror on the way to the hospital. Wait, no, I mean on the way to the bathroom for a Band-Aid. I'd already gotten a tetanus booster that time she whacked me with the baseball bat, but I was carefully monitoring my muscles for signs of rigidity for hours anyway, or at least minutes. She joked about how it would at least shut me up, all the way to the swimming pool.
