At band practice tonight (when I could have been bowling with [livejournal.com profile] knitdrinkprov! arrrr!) we were going over a new song which had a section in stop time.

So I was talking about what was supposed to be happening in the stop time section, except I kept accidentally saying 'stop sign' instead of 'stop time', which totally confused Ed the drummer.

He asked for explanation and I realized my mistake and said, 'Sorry, in the stop time section ...'

He said, 'Oh, stop time! I thought you said stop sign.'

I said, "That's because I did stay sop stine.' Which should have been a joke, but actually my brain was temporarily out of order.

The end.

Also, apparently I'm a jerk. I guess that isn't a big surprise. [Not a request for intervention or anything, particularly since it seems to be resolved, but I thought the whole interaction was interesting.]

I totally was going to agree with you on that thread, but they were all such assholes I didn't see the point. Ugh.

Oh man, people are ridiculous. I can't believe they complain about people commenting on their public entry in a community. Isn't that what communities are all about? :p

And I hope that some day, that guy will be driving with his posting friend in the car, and he'll lose control because it's going too fast and drive off a cliff. (Okay not really, because I don't like to wish death on people, but still.)

No way that jerkoff or his little friend should be driving. "But it so HARD to drive SLOW!!!" Whatever. And she was lashing out at people on her side! So convincing.

you need to learn the magic of emoticons. Deadpan humor on the internet is just a bit too, well... dead. Comes across as pure assholery. Put a stupid winky face after your words, and no one can complain or else _they_ look like the jerk who can't take a joke. Don't believe me? Watch.

;)

how can you argue with a face like that?

heh. the truth is, I've always hated emoticons, and I never use them when I post in my journal (or LOL and expressions of that ilk). But eventually I had to break down and start using them in comments, especially with people I don't know well - without them, every conversation became a flame war.

Yeah, same here. I do use LOL or OMG now and then, but strictly on an ironic basis.

i read the thread and i don't see why your comment would make you a "jerk," anyway. it was a pretty tame comment. it's not like you said the pope eats babies or something. GEEZ.

People are crazy when it comes to the pope and Nazis.

I took this sociology class once, "The Sociology of Deviance," where we had a HUGE argument about whether or not Nazis were evil. We had just read this book about this one brigade of Nazi soldiers who went around killing people, but the book really humanized them and pointed out that while some of them were sadistic and evil, some of them just got forced into it because they thought they'd die if they didn't, which makes you feel kind of bad for them. But then the prof was like "Nazis are evil, because if you can't call a Nazi evil, who CAN you call evil?" Which was weird because we had basically spent the entire rest of the semester talking about how deviance is not necessarily a bad thing, etc etc, and we'd even said that people joined the Nazi party because they were afraid for their lives.

Anyway, that's not related at all, but it's the only story I have about Nazis. :p I miss that class, the prof was hilarious.
